Baseball Wins Fourth in a Row!

After Friday night's 5-3 win over old rival Deerfield-Windsor in Albany, Brookwood Baseball added to its winning streak Monday afternoon in a pitcher's duel at Strickland Field.

The homestanding Brookwood Warriors made quick work of the visiting Southwest Georgia Academy Warriors, taking a 2-0 win in just over 90 minutes of play.

For the second game in a row, Zack Counts led off the Warrior lineup with an opposite field homerun for Brookwood to jump out to an early 1-0 lead.

In the Bottom of the 4th, Josh McCaskill reached safely with a 1-out stand-up double down the left field line. With two outs, Collin Clark's ground ball led to a throwing error by SGA's Jaxson Haire. Haire's throw barely pulled the SGA 1st Baseman off the bag, allowing Clark to reach safely and McCaskill to score from second base.

From there it was all pitching and defense, as Harper McLendon was rock solid on the mound yet again to continue his great start to his senior season. McLendon pitched a complete game shutout, scattering 3 hits and 2 walks against 7 strikeouts in his 7 innings pitched.

The Warriors put their four game winning streak on the line Friday night at home, with a return visit from Deerfield-Windsor. First pitch is scheduled for 6:15 p.m. Region play starts next week against Southland Academy.
