Brookwood Tennis on a Roll, Wins over Chiles High, Southland Academy

Brookwood Tennis continued its winning ways this season by recently defeating Chiles High School on Monday and Southland Academy on Tuesday.

Monday against Chiles, The girls started strong winning 3 of the 4 singles points with key victories coming at #1 singles from Emma Szwarc winning 8-1, #2 singles with Abby Lee winning 8-3, and Sophie Thomas winning 8-5.  Lexi Taylor lost a close match at #4 6-8 and Riley Johnson won at #5 singles 8-4,  The doubles matches both went Brookwood’s way with Emma Szwarc and Abby Lee winning 8-6, and Sophie Thomas and Lexi Taylor winning in a tie break 8-8 (7-2).
 
On the boys side, Brookwood won both doubles matches with Bradley Merschman and Nic Kadel winning at #1 (8-3) and Alden Harrison and Dallas Forsyth winning at #2 by the same 8-3 score. In singles play, Nic Kadel (3-8) and Taylor Huffman (5-8) lost at #1 and #2, but all other singles players won their line. Dallas Forsyth (8-5), Bradley Merschman (8-1) and Clark Carter (8-5) pushed Brookwood to a 5-2 team win.

Tuesday against Southland, the Brookwood girls took all three singles matches with Emma Szwarc, Abby Lee, and Sophie Thomas winning. The two doubles matches went Southland’s direction, giving Brookwood a 3-2 team win.

Against Southland, the boys swept the team match 5-0. The Warriors were perfect in singles by not giving up a single game in three 6-0, 6-0 decisions by Bradley Merschman, Dallas Forsyth, and Taylor Huffman.  In Doubles play, Clark Carter and John Roesel paired for a 6-1, 6-0 win while Wil Kadel and Pearson Taylor worked together for a 6-0, 6-3 win.
