Warrior Football Wins, Uses Another Great 4th Quarter

Warrior football has proven a consistent theme in wins this season - dominating the 4th Quarter. Friday night in Macon against Tattnall Square Academy was another chapter in this season's book of making game-winning plays down the stretch.

Trailing 3-0 at halftime after a Trojan field goal to end the first half, Brookwood traded touchdowns with Tattnall in the third quarter. The Warriors scored on an Ethan Myers two-yard run from the fullback position to make it a 10-6 game going into the final frame. After both defenses dominated for three quarters, it was time for the offenses to go wild.

Tattnall took a 17-6 lead with just under 8 minutes to play before quarterback Dallas Forsyth and the rest of the Warrior offense got hot. Forsyth found senior receiver Jacob Lauderdale in the end zone with 5 minutes left and Josh McCaskill caught a two-point conversion to bring the score to 17-14. Tattnall responded, perhaps too quickly, to extend the lead 24-14.

Forsyth found TJ Thomas for a highlight-reel catch, a 31-yard touchdown with just 3:29 left in the game to make it 24-21. After being great all game, the Brookwood defense had one last big stop in them to force a 3-and-out punt by Tattnall with 3:08 to go.

The Warrior offense took over at its own 10-yard line trailing by 3. A couple of undisciplined personal fouls by the home team Trojans jump started the Brookwood drive before Forsyth found Lauderdale on a big gain down the sideline with 2:08 to go. With 1:31 remaining, Forsyth rolled to his right and found Lauderdale - his main target on the night with Nathan Yokley out - for the go-ahead touchdown.

With a 27-24 lead, the defense had to take the field. Once again, a 3-and-out ended the game. The Warriors improve to 3-3 on the season and look to build momentum coming off a great win. The Warriors are on the road the next two Friday nights, first at Edmund Burke then at Southwest Georgia Academy.
