Brookwood hires school nurse

Staff Report
THOMASVILLE --  Brookwood School is pleased to announce the hire of Katie Owens, RN as the School Nurse.

Owens was born and raised in Thomasville and is a graduate of Thomas County Central High School. She went on to attend Southern Regional Technical College where she obtained her Registered Nurse license.

Her career in medicine began at Archbold Medical Center while she was in high school as a Patient Care Technician. Once she earned her nursing license, she began working in the Emergency Department, where she has been for several years. She has certifications in trauma and emergency care.

Brookwood Headmaster Dr. Randy Watts looks forward to having a medical professional on campus and available as they prepare to start a new school year during a global pandemic. "We are very excited to have Katie Owens join us as Brookwood's School Nurse. She has a wide array of skills and experiences that will help us immensely as we navigate through the challenges of COVID-19. I also expect that our students and parents will enjoy her warm and engaging presence. "

“I am most excited about developing a relationship with the students and being a part of the Brookwood community,” said Owens.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her daughter, Maisyn Claire, and her family. She also appreciates being outdoors, cooking, and traveling.

Owens will be an integral part of all student orientations taking place at the beginning of school. She is a member of the school’s Health Advisory Board and has already contributed significantly to the safety-conscious reopening strategy for Brookwood.
