Golf Seasons Start Strong at Jekyll Island

The Varsity and Middle School Golf teams recently competed in the Frederica Invitational on at Pine Lake on Jekyll Island.  
 
Varsity placed 2nd out of 15 schools in the event, shooting 303 as a team. Jack Boltja was the low score from the team, shooting a 71 and finishing third overall individually. Coach Wallace Marsh said, "The conditions were tough and this was our first match for the season due to the rain. There was some tough competition and it was good to kick off the season with a second-place finish."

Katherine Cook (74) and Jay Sanders (78) both also had strong days for Brookwood. 
 
Taking home first place as a team was Valwood, who will be tough region competition for the Warriors this season.  
 
The Middle School Warriors also had a strong showing. Coach Marsh said, "I was very impressed with our Middle School Team.  They made some in-round adjustments and shot some great scores."  JD Culbreth fired a 77, Shep Davis 82, Stafford Davis 84, and Emmett Street 97. "It was also the Middle School's first match of the season, so I am excited about watching them develop."
 
Brookwood will host Deerfield-Windsor this Thursday at Glen Arven Country Club and play in the Viking Invitational on Saturday.  Coach Marsh says, "It is a great joy to coach these teams and I am ready for an exciting season."
