Brookwood Basketball Takes Down Valwood on Senior Night

Brookwood Basketball sent out eight seniors in style last night, honoring two Lady Warriors and six Boys Varsity players during Senior Night against Valwood. Both Brookwood teams took Region victories in differing styles.

The Lady Warriors (13-10, 5-2) blew out Valwood by the final score of 71-21 after leading 46-9 at halftime. The two Brookwood Seniors were the stars of the game, each finishing with impressive stat lines. Mollie Vick went for 14 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals while Holland Walker had 10 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 assists. Neither committed a turnover on the night.

The Warrior Boys (14-7, 7-0) pulled away late to win, 50-35. Brookwood struggled through the 1st Quarter on both ends of the court, falling behind 11 to 17. From there, the Warriors changed defensive strategies and focused on controlling the pace of play. Valwood scored only 18 points in the final 24 minutes against solid Brookwood defense and rebounding. Brookwood clinched the #1 seed in the AAA-3 Region Tournament for the second consecutive season.

Harrison Owens had 18 points on 8 of 11 shooting, JP Chapman had 9 points and 5 assists in his return from injury, and Sam Barrett had 7 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and blocked 4 shots.
