Brookwood Basketball 4-0 in Region Weekend

Brookwood Basketball went 4-0 in an important Friday to Saturday quick turnaround, with the Lady Warriors and Warriors each winning a Region game on the road and at home.

Friday night at Tiftarea Academy, the Lady Warriors jumped out to an 18-4 lead. After Tiftarea battled throughout to cut into the large deficit, Brookwood led 48-41 with just under 6:00 minutes to go in the 4th Quarter. A quick 9-0 Lady Warrior run ignited by defensive rebounding, crisp outlet passes, and fast break layups put the game out of reach. Sophomore Christy James had 10 rebounds and 6 steals, while Erin Lewis and Holland Walker each dished 4 assists in the 61-46 Brookwood win.

In the Boys game, Brookwood led the Tiftarea Panthers 35-19 at halftime after using a 19-6 2nd Quarter to seize control. An 8-0 Warrior run to start the 3rd Quarter effectively iced the game. Brookwood went on to win 68-42 behind 15 points and 11 rebounds from Sam Barrett. Sophomore Kelton Lewis and Freshman Zack Counts scored 11 and 9, respectively.

At home on Saturday afternoon, the Lady Warriors improved to 4-1 in Region play with a 44-42 win over Southland Academy. The Lady Warriors led throughout the close contest, following Ella Grace Squires 6 rebounds and 3 steals.

The Warriors finished the weekend sweep in the Boys game, improving to 5-0 in Region play with their 46-41 win over the Raiders. Dallas Forsyth went 4 of 5 from behind the 3-point line and led with 15 points. Sam Barrett finished with 6 points and 10 rebounds. The Warriors are now 24-4 in their last 28 games against GISA competition.
