THOMASVILLE — Thomas County Commission's clerk-in-training is ecstatic about her new job.
On Wednesday, her second day on the job, Celeste Chason Tyler was working alongside Twink Monahan, longtime county clerk, who will retire in late November.
"Twink and I hit on all cylinders from the start," Tyler said, adding that she has a lot to learn.

Tyler previously was communications/marketing director and Main Street director for the City of Cairo.
"She's certainly made an impact on the city," said Chris Addleton, Cairo city manager. "I wish her well."
A 1981 Brookwood School graduate, Tyler earned a bachelor of science in business education and a master of science in sports and health management at Georgia Southern University.
She and her husband, Chuck Tyler, a retired Iowa State Patrol trooper, have two children: Austin Tyler, 26, who lives in Atlanta, and Natalie Tyler, 19, a LaGrange College sophomore.
Tyler, a Cairo native, is a daughter or Carolyn Chason of Cairo and the late Willard Chason.

In addition to City of Cairo positions, Tyler was employed with Hamilton College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, as director of career services. She also worked with Iowa companies, such as RE/MAX Realtors, Midland Dairy Association and Charter Community Hospital.
Tyler is a member of the board of directors for United National Bank in Cairo, Keep Grady County Beautiful director and a member of Friends of Roddenberry Memorial Library, among other community civic activities.
“I am very excited about Celeste coming to Thomas County and serving as the clerk," Monahan said. "She comes with years of experience and with enthusiasm to serve the board and community. I'm leaving a job I've enjoyed thoroughly, but the thought of Celeste filling the roll as clerk sets my mind at ease."
Monahan will coordinate the transition until her retirement on Nov. 23.
