Jackson, Newman going to Girls State

Lilly Jackson, daughter of Brad and Ashley Jackson, and Vivian Newman, daughter of Cary and Penny Newman, both rising seniors, will be spending a week on the Georgia Southern University campus in Statesboro attending the 2019 Georgia Girls Stateprogram. For more than 50 years, the American Legion Auxiliary has given these girls citizenship training.
The girls will be assigned a mythical city They student and participate in an intensive program where they not only learn but put into action the principles and ideas of government by doing. Girls State provides a learning experience and a deeper understanding of government operations.
After Girls State, they understand government and are able to see it is ordinary people working for the betterment of society This program has grown from a few hundred participants to nearly 20,000 Girls State delegates annually.
Vivian Newman and Lilly Jackson will be participating in the annual Georgia Girls State at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro.
