Lady Warrior Soccer Takes Another Region Win, Beats Southland 5-1.

After last Thursday's emotional win over Deerfield-Windsor, there was no letdown yesterday in Americus against Southland Academy for Lady Warrior Soccer.

The team came out firing from the beginning, taking a 5-0 lead into the halftime break and winning by a final score of 5-1.

Caroline Elkins and Holland Walker each scored a pair of goals before Eliza Miller attacked for the fifth and final Lady Warrior score of the game. Miller was the primary facilitator as well, accounting for the game's first 3 assists. Mollie Vick and Holland Walker assisted on the fourth and fifth goals. With the big lead, many of the underclassmen were able to gain valuable experience.

The win improves the team to 8-4-2 overall and 7-2 in Region play.

Coach Foy: "Yesterday was a great squad performance, we managed to get every player at least 20 minutes of playing time. We controlled the game from start to finish, played some great calm soccer on a difficult field, and I am proud of the effort from every player. We struggled on this field last year as there is not a lot of space to play but our girls solved the puzzle and played some outstanding soccer."

The Lady Warriors return to action Wednesday night, hosting Valwood for a 5:30 p.m. kickoff. Senior Night recognition will follow, with the Boys game against Valwood set for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.
