Brookwood Literary Wins Region
THOMASVILLE --
On Monday, Brookwood School students traveled to Albany State University to complete in the Georgia
Independent School Association Region 3-AAA Literary Competition. Competing schools were
Deerfield-Windsor Academy (Albany), Valwood Academy (Hahira), Tift-Area Academy (Tifton), and Southland
Academy (Americus).
For the second year in a row, Brookwood won the region title, out-scoring in total points a very competitive
Tift-Area Academy. "I'm so proud of each of our participants and the hard work they put into their speech
preparation, writing, singing, and acting. We took a very talented group of competitors. I'm also grateful for the
hard work that Mr. Sean Landeta and Mrs. Hananel Jackson put into working with our singers and actors," said
Brookwood's Literary coordinator, Jonathan Groover.
Below is a list of 1st place and 2nd place finishers:
Personal Essay: Madeline Gordon, 1st place.
Humorous Interpretation: Sam Watts, 1st place.
International Extemporaneous Speaking: Raleigh Rollins, 1st place.
Spelling: Abby Chapman, 2nd place.
Argumentative Essay: Julia Johnson, 2nd place.
Duo Interpretation: Julia Johnson/Brianna Beach, 2nd place.
Impromptu Speaking: Evans Dodys, 2nd place.
Boys Solo: Sam Watts, 2nd place.
Quartet: Jackson Clendenin, Nicholas Lauderdale, Sam Watts, Jack Moreton, 2nd place.
Trio: Lilly Jackson, Maryam Sibley, Lauren Ryan, 2nd place.
Students will travel to Gordon State College on Tuesday, March 12, to compete in the GISA AAA Literary State
competition.
