The Lady Warrior basketball team traveled to Americus to defeat Deerfield-Windsor on Thursday night by the final score of 62-58 on the campus of Georgia Southwestern State in the Storm Dome. Brookwood led from start to finish, leading 13-10 at the end of the 1st Quarter after making back to back 3s. The Warriors controlled a 24-21 lead into the lockerroom at halftime. An exciting, back and forth 1st Half showed the Lady Warriors toughness against the hometown and host Southland Lady Raiders. Christy James's steal and coast-to-coast finish gave Brookwoood a 20-18 lead with less than a minute to go in the 2nd Quarter. Southland responded with a basket of their own, resulting in a tied game at 20-20 to go into halftime.
The Lady Warriors were unable to force their tempo in the second half, eventually falling by the final score of 44-30.
The runner-up finish earns a #2-seed in the Playoffs. Up next is a trip to Pinewood Christian Academy in Bellville, GA who will host the Lady Warriors neutral-site contest tomorrow against Notre Dame Academy. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
