• This year's musical, "Footloose!"

  As noted on the Concord Theatricals website: With dynamic new songs augmenting the powerhouse hits from its bestselling Oscar-nominated score, Footloose celebrates the exhilaration of youth, the wisdom of listening to one another, and the power of forgiveness.   Brookwood’s production of this lively musical will get the audience's toes tapping with music, song, and dance.
  
  Footloose will be presented in the Thomasville Municipal Auditorium on February 2, 3, and 4, 2024.

• Chorus

  Chorus is included in the variety of enrichment courses offered at Brookwood School. Middle School students explore the fundamentals of music theory and singing as a group in a 9-week program followed by a concert in conjunction with the Upper School choir. Ninth through Twelfth grade students build self-confidence, display teamwork, and strengthen both individual and choral vocal skills in the elective course. • Literary

  Brookwood’s Literary team consists of select students from grades 8 - 12. There are fourteen areas of competition including Girls Solo, Girls Trio, Boys Solo, Boys Quartet, Piano, Humorous Oral Interpretation, Dramatic Oral Interpretation, Dual Oral Interpretation, Argumentative Essay, Personal Essay, Rhetorical Essay, Spelling, International Extemporaneous Speaking, and National Extemporaneous Speaking.
  
  

  Competition is first held at the regional level and all first and second place winners advance to the state competition, which is normally held at Valdosta State University. Participants compete individually and their scores are totaled to determine winning schools.

• One Act

  A one-act play is part of the regional and state literary competition, which takes place during the fall and is open to all academically eligible students in grades 8 - 12. All participants for both actors and crew must be students and a staff member serves as the director of the play.

• Performing Arts

  The performing arts are an integral part of both curricular and extracurricular life for all Brookwood students.

  As part of the Lower School Fine Arts curriculum, fourth graders explore Shakespeare’s The Tempest, and fifth graders examine and experience Henry V. Afternoons with Shakespeare is an after school activity for fourth and fifth grade students to explore then perform a Shakespeare play. Recent productions have included A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Julius Caesar.

  The Brookwood Lower School Chorus, an extracurricular opportunity for third, fourth, and fifth grade students, teaches choral repertoire which students perform both at school and in different community venues.

  Students in all grades participate in the annual Brookwood School musical, a large-scale musical theater production, presented in the community each February. Recent musicals include Cinderella, Annie, Seussical, and The Music Man.
