Cross Country has Strong Showing in Tallahassee

The cross-country family opened its season this weekend at the XC Cougar Challenge at Phipps trail in Tallahassee, the competition was very strong with some of the top school and runners from the states of Georgia and Florida.
 
Varsity 5K
The varsity boys were led by 12th grader Noah Owens who finished with a very good time of 20.48 in his debut race for the Warriors, earning Owens a 58th place finish out of 222 runners. Owens was followed by teammate Benjamin Filston who finished in a time of 23:07 and finished 124th an excellent effort for his first varsity race.
 
The varsity Girls also had a very strong run, 10th grader Isabella Grayson finished first for the Warriors with a time of 27:08 earning Grayson a 78thplace finish out of 188 runners. Grayson was followed by three teammates. Madeline Gordon, Anna Vick and Riley Pollock all three runners finished together with times of 36.31 with only tenths of a second between them.
 
Middle School 3K
 Middle school boys were led by 8th grader Jack Saussy with a time of 12.14, earning Saussy an outstanding 6th place finish out of 132 runners. Saussy was followed by teammate Will Porter who finished with a time of 12.58 and earning Porter a 16th place finish another outstanding performance.
 
Middle school girls were led by 6th grader Wilson Young who finished with a time of 15.45 earning Young a 25th place finish out of 112 runners an excellent achievement in her first event for the Warriors. Young was followed by teammate Dana Pollock who finished with a time of 17.00 earning a 48th place finish. 
 
 Coach Foy had this to say about the weekend: 
“This team of runners has a fantastic attitude and work rate they push each other to give their best everyday in practice and it is showing on the course. I am very proud of every runner they gave their best and that is all we ever ask of them. We have laid a strong foundation for our season this past weekend and we are already looking forward to our next event”
