Thompson, Brown Sign to Play Basketball, Football Collegiately

Two Seniors from the Brookwood Class of 2019 signed their letters of intent and scholarships to play collegiately this morning in the Beverly Athletic Center. Jordan Thompson, basketball, and Kurtis Brown, football, were honored at a morning assembly in front of family, friends, teachers, and the student body. Athletic Director and Football Coach Shane Boggs, Girls Basketball Coach Todd Webb, and Head of School Dr. Randy Watts all spoke on the pair's athletic and academic accomplishments.

Thompson will stay local and attend Thomas University to play for the NightHawks Women's Basketball program. The Nighthawks are led by Coach Myron Brown, who will be entering his third season in charge of the progam. Thomas University Athletics are a member of the NAIA and compete in the Sun Conference. The team finished the season strong, winning their final three home games. The roster loses four seniors to graduation this offseason. Thompson finished her Brookwood career just shy of 1,000 points and as an All-State selection for GISA AAA, the first Lady Warrior to do so since 2011. She was also an All-Region selection in her Junior and Senior seasons.

Brown will attend University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Kentucky to play football. The Patriots are coached by Matt Rhymer, who will be entering his sixth season. They are also a member of the NAIA, but compete in the Appalachian Athletic Conference. Last season they went an impressive 11-2 with wins against multiple ranked opponents. The Patriots' first game of the 2019 season is scheduled for September 7th in Florida against Ave Maria University. Brown finished as the leading receiver in Region 3-AAA this year and was named GISA AAA All-State in both Football and Basketball as a Senior.

Congratulations Jordan and Kurtis on your academic and athletic accomplishments! We are excited for you to continue competing next year!
