Warrior Baseball Hosts Thomasville High in Season Opener TODAY!

Warrior Baseball hosts the 2019 Season Opener at Strickland Field today as the visiting Thomasville High Bulldogs will come across town. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

The Warriors return multiple key pieces from last year's roster, including 2018 All-Region utility player Joe Parker. Parker will play both the outfield and infield depending on the linuep this season, as well as take the mound as part of the pitching staff.

Another key component of the pitching staff will be fellow senior, William Lee. Lee will focus solely on pitching this season. Lance Wortman and Nic Lauderdale also returns for their senior seasons, playing primarily in the outfield for the Warriors. Raleigh Rollins, Jason Simmons, and Evans Dodys are three other seniors contributing to the veteran squad.

The infield will have its combination of youth and talent, as four sophomores are expected to contribute heavily in Josh McCaskill (C), Harper McClendon (2nd), Marcus West (3rd), and Jacob Lauderdale (SS). JP Chapman, a junior, returns to the diamond and will man 1st Base.

The Warriors start the season with back-to-back home games, following up tonight's season opener by hosting Terrell Academy on Friday. The challenging slate includes a trip to Tallahassee to face perennial power North Florida Christian, a return date across town with Thomasville High, a neutral site contest with Florida State University School, and a late season game at home against Wakulla (FL) High School. The Warriors will be battle tested come Region time to face the likes of Tiftarea, Valwood, Deerfield-Windsor, and Southland.
