Lady Warrior Hoops Heads to Playoffs, Eyes a Return to GSW

The Lady Warrior basketball team traveled to Americus to defeat Deerfield-Windsor on Thursday night by the final score of 62-58 on the campus of Georgia Southwestern State in the Storm Dome. Brookwood led from start to finish, leading 13-10 at the end of the 1st Quarter after making back to back 3s. The Warriors controlled a 24-21 lead into the lockerroom at halftime. The star of the game was sharp-shooting Sophomore Erin Lewis, who finished with a game-high 23 points (17 in the 2nd Half) behind the strength of six made three-pointers. Senior Jordan Thompson made multiple big baskets down the stretch, finishing with 15 points. Junior Mollie Vick led the way with 7 assists.

The win advanced the Lady Warriors to Friday's Region Championship game for a third season in a row.

An exciting, back and forth 1st Half showed the Lady Warriors toughness against the hometown and host Southland Lady Raiders. Christy James's steal and coast-to-coast finish gave Brookwoood a 20-18 lead with less than a minute to go in the 2nd Quarter. Southland responded with a basket of their own, resulting in a tied game at 20-20 to go into halftime.

The Lady Warriors were unable to force their tempo in the second half, eventually falling by the final score of 44-30.

The runner-up finish earns a #2-seed in the Playoffs. Up next is a trip to Pinewood Christian Academy in Bellville, GA who will host the Lady Warriors neutral-site contest tomorrow against Notre Dame Academy. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
