At the Brookwood School Commencement Ceremony on May 19, two awards were announced that are traditionally the last awards to be presented to members of the senior class.
Leigh Avera won the Headmaster's Award, which represents Avera's character, service and contributions to the school, her academic effort, attitude and other positive traits.
Mary Claire Courtney was given the Patricia James Bullock Memorial Service Award for her love of Brookwood and dedication to its ideals, which have been manifested in many areas of service to the school.
Brookwood School students in grades 9-12 won academic and service awards, scholarships and other special recognition at the annual Upper School Awards Day on May 15.
Scholastic Leader Awards went to the four students with the highest grade point average in each class: 12th grade - Justin Johnson, 11th grade - Olivia Howell, 10th grade - Allison Stauffer, and 9th grade - Heeth Varnedoe. The awards are named for Brookwood founders: Mr. and Mrs. L.B. Harvard, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas M. Hines, Mr. and Mrs. Landgon S. Flowers and Lewis Hall Singletary.
The new Savannah Ramsey Singletary Scholarship went to Blair Davis, and Caroline Penhallegon won the new Savannah Ramsey Singletary Basketball Scholarship.
