COACH IN THE CLASSROOM - Not only is he Brookwood School's athletic director and varsity football coach, Robert East also teaches science. During Parents Back to School Night on Aug.24, he tells parents of students in his chemistry class what to expect from the course and assignments during the coming school year. The coach also teaches physics.
LESSON IN COLLEGE APPLICATIONS - At Brookwood School, Vic Spigener not only teaches English, he also serves as the college counselor. During Back to School Night, he tells Upper School parents about his work with students to complete their applications to colleges and universities, both via mailed packets and also the increasingly popular online application process.
FULL HOUSE - It was standing-room-only in Chubb Hall Thursday night as Brookwood School Headmaster Mike Notaro welcomed parents of the Lower School students, grades 1-5, at Back to School Night. Notaro pointed out numerous renovations to Brookwood's buildings and new campus landscaping and announced the college-preparatory school's record-breaking enrollment of 495 students.
NEW TECHNOLOGY - With teaching and learning technology constantly changing, Brookwood School has "Smart Boards," interactive whiteboards with touch-control computer applications, installed in every classroom. Pam Tenewitz utilizes the Smart Board to illustrate points she makes to parents of 4th grade students about her class plans for the school year during the Lower School's Parents Night.
