- The Brookwood School golf team was named Region 3 champion on Monday in the Georgia Independent School Association tournament at the Griffin Bell Golf Links in Americus.
"We defeated Deerfield-Windsor in a play-off by one stroke," said Coach Dave Hogan. "We both shot 308, Southland of Americus came in third with a 319, and Westfield of Perry was fourth with 332 and Calvary Christian shot 395."
Brookwood and Deerfield will play in the State Championship on May 3 at the Doublegate Country Club in Albany.
"Par was 71," Hogan explained. " You play five boys and count the top four players from each team."
Hinson Arwood, a Brookwood junior, shot 72, junior Danny Steinberg shot a 78, 8th grader Chandler Barnes shot a 78, 8th grader Luke Howard shot 80, while freshman Ben Braswell shot 84.
