Message from the Headmaster:
Reading through some older correspondences I have written this year, as well as a number of others from years past, I found that in each instance I have made it a very special point to let parents and faculty know how much we appreciate their commitment to Brookwood. Also, very often, I close assemblies on Friday mornings requesting our students to "find some time this weekend to let your mom and dad know how much you appreciate and love them."
I would very much like to sing the praises of some other individuals whom we may not say "thank you" to nearly as often as we should...our sons and daughters, those, that around here, we call "students."
Fact is, if not for our students, we would not be here.
Our student culture here at Brookwood is that of academic desire and respect of core values. I see these ideals on a regular basis from Junior Kindergarten to senior students listening, studying, or respecting others. We do not have to "ride herd" as some of my colleagues tell me goes on at their
so-called institutions of learning.
This Christmas season, while many of us celebrate the birth of Christ and other faiths celebrate their traditions, we can also celebrate the gifts that our students have given us as they show they are living the values we teach. Let us lift up too in a little extra effort our students, sons and daughters alike, who truly try to uphold and live those values.
Thanks for a Brookwood that brings out the best in our students.
I know you and I will find just the right time during this Holiday season to let your children "know how much you appreciate and love them!"
Blessings to all,
MIKE

SGA sponsored a Christmas tree at Pebble Hill Plantation decorated in honor of Savannah Singletary. On Fri., Dec. 9, members of the sophomore class went to Pebble Hill and decorated after school. It was a labor of love and fellowship for the sophomores, and Mrs. Bond, SGA co-sponsor, would like to thank all those who contributed ornaments and their time to make Savannah's tree beautiful. The tree is located amongst the community trees on the carriage circle in front of the main house, and should be up until New Years Day.
Several students participated in the Run for Rover event on Sat., Dec. 3. Karen Stauffer encouraged her "Girls Running Strong" to run. Six of the girls participated and all six finished strong (the 5th grade girls were on the Williamsburg field trip). Pictured above is Coach Karen Stauffer with Lauren Ryan, Claire Hodges, Mollie Vick, Meta Ughetto, Anna Vick, Amelia Clarke and Vivian Newman.
Mollie Vick, Leigh Stauffer (and Hamilton, her dog) and Alex Carico all received trophy's for placing in their age group categories:
• Mollie finished first place in the 19 and under girls division;
• Leigh finished first place in the girls with dog division; and,
• Alex finished first place in the male division for his age group.
At Brookwood School, each first grader is presented a small Christmas tree decorated especially for that child by his or her senior "Buddy." Read more...

The MS Girls Basketball Team won the MS Christmas Tournament on Sat., Dec. 3, held in Brookwood's Stoddard Gymnasium, defeating Community Christian 32-14, and Maclay 29-12. The team is undefeated, 10-0 for the first time under Coach Hogan's watch. They have been led by 8th graders Isabella Piazza, Julia Hilson and Emmaline Brannon, and 7th graders Jamilah Johnson and Caroline Deese. Keep up the good work Lady Warriors!
Our Varsity Basketball Boys and Girls teams will be playing in the Maclay Varsity Holiday Hoops Tournament this Fri., Sat. and Mon. Visit www.maclayholidayhoops.com for details.
