When the local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution announced the 5th and 6th grade winners of this year's essay competition in the Thomasville area, Brookwood students claimed all the prizes.

Levin Jarrett, who was a first-place winner last year in the 5th grade, claimed the top prize again in the 6th grade. Austin Falconer's essay won first place in this year's 5th grade competition.

Their winning essays are sent from the local DAR chapter for judging at the state level.

Brookwood 5th graders Rachel Cooper and Honey Balfour won second and third place prizes, respectively, for their essays.

Aaron Howell won second place for the 6th grade competition, and Maggie Deaver took the third place for 6th graders.

"Last year, Brookwood's Julianne Dennis won the state DAR first-place medal in Atlanta when she was a 6th grader," said Lower School Director Ashley Harper. "Our 5th and 6th grade teachers and our talented students continue to make us proud with these winning essays, which demonstrate the outstanding writing ability of Brookwood students."
