FROM THE HEADMASTER...(Mike Notaro)

It seems to me this school year is rushing by us faster then it did last year!  School seems to be going extremely well from my perspective.  Our teachers have continued to keep our children on task and truly hit the ground running on our return from spring break.  It is important that we continue to work diligently on our studies as we approach the end of this academic year.  I am very proud of the approach of the majority of our students and their commitment to school.

Now that spring break has passed, we are really getting into the extreme busy part of the year.  In the next few weeks there are numerous activities that will fill our calendars.  Please see below a partial list of the activities that are taking place at Brookwood.  With this in mind, we must be sure that all bases are covered by students who, on occasion, will miss valuable class time.  Although we remind students on a regular basis that it is their responsibility to communicate with their teachers if they will be missing class, it does not hurt for them to hear it from parents as well.

We have had more successes in athletics this spring that you can read about in the Athletic Report.  Also, check out Brookwood School's plan to become GREEN and how you can help.

There have been many great accomplishments this year in every aspect of school life and our efforts in fundraising as well.  Our Annual Fund for Excellence is coming to a conclusion and we are in danger of not reaching our goal.  If you are still looking for ways to help with your income tax return, our Annual Fund could be a good option.

Congratulations to Tom Danner and Laurel Derby, our past two "Warriors of the Week."  Way to go Tom and Laurel.

I wish each of you a great weekend!

Blessings,
Mike Notaro, Headmaster

BROOKWOOD CAMPUS IS GOING GREEN!  (Carol Sheftall)

Brookwood sophomores, led by Carol Sheftall, are encouraging our campus to recycle plastics, cans, newspapers, and cardboard.   We are even recycling our plastic drink bottles at ballgames.   We are also recycling white paper and magazines.  By recycling these items, we hope to reduce the amount of trash we send to the landfill. Our sophomores are collecting the recyclables during homeroom two times per week to get these projects off to a good start.  We are in the process of adopting a
Thomasville roadside for clean-up each quarter.  Our Green Team here at school is excited about Brookwood becoming a Green School.

Watch for news of our Earth Day Celebration.

LOWER SCHOOL SCIENCE CAMP

Join your friends for an exciting and challenging week of hands-on science activities!  Students finishing 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade will attend the week of June 2 - 6.  Those students completing grades 1 and 2 will participate June 16 - 20.

Each week the students will explore space topics at the Challenger Learning Center in Tallahassee with space missions, IMAX movie, and the planetarium.  The Mad Scientists of Tallahassee will involve the campers in many science experiments on two days of each week.  The final two days will include trips to the Gulf Marine Specimen Lab, Wakulla River boat cruise, and science exploration at the Mary Brogan Science Museum (1st and 2nd grades) or the FSU High Magnetic Lab (3rd, 4th, 5th grades).

The camp brochure was sent home on Friday, April 11 with all students currently in 1st - 5th grades.  The registration form is in the brochure.  To reserve your child's place in this exciting week, please return the form with a deposit to Jenni Martin.  For questions, call Jenni at 221-0153.
