Ann Larson and Katherine Wolff with their STAR plaques
THOMASVILLE -- Katherine Wolff, the STAR Student of Brookwood School, is now the STAR Student of the southwestern region of Georgia and has won a $500 scholarship check. On March 21 in Americus, Wolff, a National Merit Finalist, found out she earned the highest SAT score at a single sitting of any of the 20 STAR students from schools in this part of the state. Her parents are Dr. and Mrs. Craig (Tammie) Wolff of Thomasville.
For her STAR Teacher, the teacher who has made the most significant contribution to her scholastic development, Wolff selected English Teacher Ann Larson, who also won a plaque and a check. This is the 12th time Larson has been selected STAR Teacher in her 38 years of teaching at Brookwood.
Wolff and Larson will travel to Atlanta for a banquet on April 18, where the state's STAR student will be named. The Professional Association of Georgia Education Foundation coordinates the Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) program.
