FROM THE HEADMASTER...
You must feel the excitement that is in the air around Brookwood School! So many of our students have a real "spring" in their step, especially our seniors. We are now in the short rows and the end of the school year is only a few days away.
Flowers Hall has been as quiet as can be with AP exams going on. I am very proud of the students who have classes in Flowers; they have shown the utmost respect for their fellow classmates by whispering, holding doors, and quietly removing books from their lockers, trying not to disturb the students taking the Advanced Placement exams. Keep up the good work next week.
I have made it a point to visit with our students as they depart their AP exams to get a feel of how they thought they may have done. For the most part, all left with a tone of confidence that they knew the material. This is another sign of the strong preparation and dedication by our AP teachers to have them ready.
The remainder of the student body in the Middle and Upper Schools will begin their final exams next week. Be sure to check the exam schedule on the website to verify all times and dismissals for the next ten days.
Good luck to all students.

Mrs. Notaro and I would like to personally thank all the seniors and faculty for coming to our home to enjoy great BBQ last Saturday. We believe a new tradition has been created having the seniors over for BBQ and enjoying the Kentucky Derby together the first weekend of May. Thanks for your kind words of appreciation and perfect manners. You are always welcome in our home.
Congratulations to Hananel Mavity, this week's "Warrior of the Week." Way to go Hananel!
Next week I will reflect on some great times that we have shared and some lessons that have been learned throughout this fantastic year. Please be sure you use your time wisely to prepare for exams. Moms and Dads, continue to encourage your children to do their very best. Oh yes...make sure you tell them how proud you are of them with a big hug.
Happy Mother's Day!
Blessings,
Mike Notaro
Headmaster

MIDDLE SCHOOL NEWS (Ashley Harper)
We have had a great week in Middle School working to complete the year's studies and begin preparations for Nine Weeks Tests. All students have now received study guides for the upcoming exams and should begin preparing over the weekend. As many stated in today's assembly, it is easier to study ahead than cram at the end.
On Thursday morning, the eighth graders were honored by the sixth and seventh grades for their successful completion of Middle School. The Middle School student body is proud of our exceptional eighth grade students and the leadership they have shown this year.
This afternoon the Middle School hosted the rising Middle School students from the fifth grade. Fifth grade parents, please look for a transition packet in your child's Friday folder.
WELCOME TO THE MIDDLE SCHOOL!
TONIGHT - Middle School Cookout and Party

LOWER SCHOOL NEWS (Francine Wright)
Let's Celebrate!!!
Today the Lower School Chorus performed an arrangement of songs to celebrate different cultures in their final performance for the year. Along with singing, some of the children demonstrated their musical talents by also playing percussion and kazoos. Thank you to Mrs. Lee and the Lower School Chorus for your hard work and dedication throughout the school year. You always delight us!
KUDOS TO...
Thomas Harrison for reaching 10,000 on his math scroll. Great job Harrison!!!
Jack Howard for submitting a question to BrainPOP about Venus flytraps. BrainPOP responded by making a movie on Carnivorous plants to answer his question. Way to go Jack!!!
A Trip to the Capitol
Mrs. McCall's second grade class visited the Capitol in Tallahassee on May 3, 2007. They observed first hand the House of Representatives debating a bill to be passed into law. This trip was especially meaningful as it was the National Day of Prayer. The children were able to visit with a young Marine who had just returned from Africa serving our country.

Varsity Girls Soccer Ends with a Very Successful Season
The Brookwood Lady Warriors Varsity Soccer season ended on Thursday, May 3, when Trinity Christian defeated the Lady Warriors 3-0. The girls played a great game against a very fine Trinity Christian team. Trinity Chistian scored their first goal with 12 seconds remaining in the first half. Coach Hogan and Coach Warner believe this gave Trinity a great amount of momentum going into the second half. It might have been a different outcome if it had been 0-0 at halftime. The heat of the day also played a factor with Liz Brewer going down at halftime with heat problems. The All-State sweeper was only allowed to play about half of the second half. In the second half, with Liz on the bench, Trinity was able to score twice. The girls ended the season with an 8-3-2 record and a Region Championship and a play-off win that got us into the Elite Eight. Next year we are shooting for the Final Four.
On Tuesday May 8th, Coach Hogan went to Macon to the All-Region and All-State meeting. Liz Brewer was voted to the All-State Team. Liz, Logan Petrey, Marielle Youmans, Kendra Bell, Maria Olson, and Winnie Kadis were elected to the All-Region Team.
Congratulations to all the girls for a GREAT season. The future looks bright for Brookwood Girls Soccer.
