FROM THE HEADMASTER...
Welcome back to all...I hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful spring break. Our family enjoyed some great quality time together and has hit the ground running since Monday.
Spring has arrived and Brookwood is definitely in full bloom. We are in the busiest time of the year and it seems as though something is taking place every day that involves our students.
As many of you know this is a very anxious time for our seniors. With the first of April most are making their final decisions on where they will attend college next year. We should be very proud of this senior class as the list of quality schools that have accepted our students is very impressive. This list will be published in next week's eNewsletter. This is also a compliment to our entire faculty who has unquestionably done their part in helping prepare our students for the educational journey ahead. Congratulations to the Class of 2007.
Congratulations are in order for Mrs. Larson who received a Loveday Foundation Summer Study Grant. This summer Mrs. Larson will be attending the 7th Shakespeare Seminar at the University of Virginia, entitled "The Play's the Thing."
Our first graders and their senior buddies participated in a morning Easter egg hunt this past Tuesday. Each little buddy arrived equipped with their own Easter basket and wearing bunny ears. The hunt took place in front of the school with all collecting the limit of 15 eggs each and the seniors then donning the Bunny ears. I was pleased once again to see the kindness and great example our seniors provided to their buddies. This is another great event that helps set Brookwood apart!
I mentioned in the last newsletter that we were planning a "Town Meeting" for Lower School parents in the near future. This Town Meeting will be held on Monday, April 23, at 6:30 p.m., in the Williams-Parker Library. We will update parents on how things are going, and also discuss the Orton-Gillingham program and its possibilities.
Congratulations to Ely Mathes, our "Warrior of the Week." Way to go Ely!
The visiting team for the SAIS/SACS accreditation will arrive next weekend and be on campus through Tuesday, April 17th. We feel confident and well prepared for this very important visit that will help lead us into the future improvement of Brookwood School. We will continue to keep you informed.
Reenrollment contracts: We have received a number of reenrollment contracts but some families have not returned a contract for the 2007-2008 school year. If you plan on returning next year we ask that you return your contract now. If you are not planning on returning, please notify us in writing with an explanation of your reasoning. This will provide others who wish to come to Brookwood an opportunity to be accepted. Thank you for your attention to this important detail.
With spring in the air we ask that you continue to speak with your children about staying on task for the remainder of the school year. It is very easy during this time of the year to relax with our studies and preparation. As a faculty and staff we will push ourselves to be the best we can be each and every day.
Please take a moment and let your children know how much you love them during this Easter weekend. I wish everyone a great Easter.
"Take with you the joy of Easter to the home, and make that home bright with more unselfish love, more hearty service; take it into your work, and do all in the name of the Lord Jesus; take it to your heart, and let that heart rise anew on Easter wings to a higher, a gladder, a fuller life; take it to the dear grave-side and say there the two words "Jesus lives!" and find in them the secret of calm expectation, the hope of eternal reunion." Blessings,

Maintain the Focus
Please encourage your child to maintain academic drive and focus through the remaining weeks of school. The warm weather and beautiful sunshine call us all to outdoor pursuits. It is ever important that our students stay focused on the academic tasks at hand. We are well into the fourth nine weeks with Progress Reports going home on April 20th. Please encourage your child to seek help at break or tutoring as necessary. Thanks for your support.

BROOKWOOD ATHLETICS
Varsity Girls Soccer Still Undefeated (Coach Hogan)
The Brookwood Lady Warriors Varsity Soccer team is still undefeated. They have beaten or tied every team in the Region. They have beaten Valwood(3-0), Tiftarea(2-1), and Terrell(2-1) and have tied Georgia Christian (0-0). The team is starting the second half of the season today playing AAA Sherwood Christian in Albany. Next week the Lady Warriors play Sherwood at home on Tuesday and Valwood away on Thursday. The Warriors are led in scoring by Maria Olson with five goals. Also scoring his season are Libby Coram, Marielle Youmans, Logan Petrey, and Liz Brewer. The Mid-Fielders are doing a great job control the game and distributing the ball. They are Liz Olson, LoLo Mason, Winnie Kadis, Stormy Koch. Coach Hogan and Coach Warner says that the Lady Warriors defense is very solid with Mickey Betters, Haley Caldwell and Logan Petrey playing goalie and with defensive specialist Liz Brewer, Kendra Bell, Anna Price Olson and Stormy Koch defending on our side of the field. Also contributing to the team success this year are Kaitlin Thompson, Carter Vann, Paige Petrey, Kristen Yaun, Ashley Yaun, Margaret Hancock and Lindsey Johnson. With a little more hard work and hustle at practice Coach Warner and Coach Hogan believe the girls can go into the play-offs as the number 1 team from Region 3.Congratulations and keep working hard girls.
