FROM THE HEADMASTER...
Brookwood School has enjoyed another remarkable week, as we excelled supporting our school, in the classroom, on the field of play, and in the state Literary Competition.
Saturday night's auction was a superb success as over 200 supporters of Brookwood School came together to celebrate our children. This year's auction is poised to be one of the best ever. The night included a special dedication to Mrs. Constance Clineman for her work with our Drama Guild and productions, which made the auction theme "Brookwood Goes Broadway," come alive. Special thanks to all the volunteers who created a fantastic evening of fun for everyone in attendance.
Congratulations to our three time state Literary Champions! We are so proud of our outstanding students and teachers who brought home another title for Brookwood School.
On Monday evening, Brookwood will shine again as the Vance and Mercer Watt Distinguished Lecture Series presents Mr. Timothy Dobbins, author of Stepping Up: Make Decisions That Matter. Mr. Dobbins will be speaking in Chubb Hall on Monday night at 7:30 pm. All of the Brookwood family and community are invited to attend this event. Please plan to join us for this exclusive speaker.
Congratulations to Mary Catherine Alexander, our Warrior of the Week. Mary Catherine, we are proud of you!

STATE CHAMPIONS AGAIN, AGAIN AND AGAIN! (Phil Danner)
Winning a single region or state championship is always a great achievement for students and schools. Winning three straight Region and State Championships in a roll is almost unheard of. Brookwood's literary team has won for the third straight year the Region 3AA Region Championship. In the Region competition Brookwood's team scored more points than of the combined total of its two closest competitors and won 10 first places and 2 second places out of the 13 events.
Brookwood then advanced to the State competition and won for the third year in a row the GISA AA State Literary Meet and was named again for the third year in a row, the GISA State Overall Literary Champion! The Literary Team won in a most convincing manner winning again more points than the combined total of the nearest two competing schools combined. Our students won state championships in three events; Kate Worthey in Girls' Solo, Kelly Jackson in Humorous Oral Interpretation, and Hananel Mavity, Anna Carroll Sims and Ashley Laramore in Girls' Trio.
All championships are a combination of outstanding individual efforts and of the total contribution of the entire team. Literary competitions are no different. The overall Championship is an effort of Brookwood's State Champion One Act Play ensemble, the Debate Team and the Literary Team. The literary competition is made up of 13 events that include essays, extemporaneous speaking, oral interpretation, spelling, piano, girls' and boys' solo, girls' trio and boys' quartet. Brookwood bested teams from the following schools: Arlington Christian, Briarwood Academy, Bulloch Academy, Edmund Burke Academy, Frederica Academy, Gatewood School, The Heritage School, Holy Spirit Preparatory, Memorial Day School, Randolph Southern School, Piedmont Academy, Southwest Georgia Academy,Trinity Christian School, and Valwood School.
The results of the State Competition were:
First place winners in State:
Kate Worthey in Girls' Solo
Kelly Jackson in Oral Interpretation
Hananel Mavity, Anna Carroll Sims and Ashley Laramore in Girls' Trio.
Second place winners in State:
Lucy Mitchell in Piano
Elizabeth Wedding in Argumentative Essay
Anna Carroll Sims in Oral Interpretation
D. J. Grooms in Boys' Solo.
Third place winners in State:
Elizabeth Wedding in Extemporaneous Speaking
Grant Stauffer, Kelly Jackson, Chase Clayton, D. J. Grooms in Boys' Quartet.
Region results were listed in last week's eNewsetter.
Brookwood students are led by Mrs. Constance Clineman in One Act Play, Mr. Phil Danner in Debate, Mrs. Barbara Lee in Music, and further assisted by Mrs. Debbie Beeson and Mr. David Grooms. However, every teacher and coach has contributed in some way to each student's success.
Congratulations to every student who participated this year and was willing to represent Brookwood. Our students have been blessed with great abilities and gifts. We are very proud of all of you!

MIDDLE SCHOOL NEWS (Ashley Harper)
Please remember that the eighth grade Washington, DC trip begins Sunday. All participating students and chaperones should be at the Tallahassee Airport no later than 9:30 am on Sunday morning. The weather forecast looks to be cool, especially on Monday with a high of only 48 degrees. Please pack accordingly.
The Middle School Spring Fling Party was a resounding success with 76 students in attendance. The students danced the night away enjoying music even Mrs. Harper, Mrs. Bird, and Mrs. Vereen could shake a leg to. Thank you to the parents and students who supported our event. Special thanks to the Middle School Council for their set up and clean up. It is my pleasure to work with a responsible group of students working hard to create age appropriate, fun social events for their peers. We also would like to thank Mr. Kelley Collins, Brooke Collins' uncle, for being the DJ at our event. The lights, music, and fun made it a night to remember. Be on the look out for one last Middle School social event before the end of the school year.

LOWER SCHOOL NEWS (Francine Wright)
T-Shirt Week
Next week the classes in Lower School (kindergarten-5th grade) that met their goal for the community service project sponsored by the senior class can wear t-shirts everyday. This is the reward for meeting the goal. Please note the guidelines: shirts must be tucked in, in good condition, appropriately sized, appropriate language or pictures, and no advertising. Thank you to all of the students who participated in this event.
Lower School Field Day is coming Friday, March 23rd! (Note: 12:30 dismissal for Lower School only on Field Day)
