FROM THE HEADMASTER...
Excitement is in the air as we move into Homecoming Week. In most Independent Schools this is a time where the students, alumni and parents show their true colors. Make plans to attend the many events and activities that will take place throughout next week. A list of activities and dress-up days are included within this eNewsletter.
Within the next few days you will be receiving a letter from me discussing the importance of the Annual Fund. We have intentionally delayed the start of this Annual Fund for Excellence so that all stakeholders can get their feet under them and, to be candid, I wanted you to get a real feel of how the school year was going before we asked for your participation. As you know, all quality Independent Schools do not rely solely on tuition for their operating budget. In fact, tuition in most cases only covers approximately 80 percent of the school's annual operating costs. Please take the time to read my upcoming letter and seriously consider participating. As you are aware, participation is the key to success in any endeavor. We, the faculty and Board, feel the same way, which is why we already have 100% participation by this fantastic group of people. If they believe in excellence and all the good we stand for, I would hope you will show it as well. Many of you have said to me "let me know how I can help." Well, consider this my call for help! Let's set another record this year at Brookwood with the largest Parent, Grandparent, and Alumni participation ever. Please feel free to call on me with any questions you may have concerning our Annual Fund for Excellence.
Mrs. Callaway's computer class hosted Scott Rich, Brookwood Salutatorian from 1992 and son of Mr. and Mrs. Scott Rich, to talk about his work with Electronic Arts (EA) Sports. Scott gave a fascinating talk on the intricacies of his position developing computer games such as John Madden NFL football, and his upcoming release Superman. Scott has also worked on other EA productions such as NASCAR and Tiger Woods. It was amazing to hear Scott explain the extremely long process and meticulous work that goes into producing these popular worldwide games. Thank you Mrs. Callaway and Scott for sharing with us such an interesting story.
We are always on the lookout for individuals who can share and enlighten our students. If you know of someone whom you believe could share their occupation and story with us, please contact me.
Please remember that you should not leave your vehicle unattended while parked in front of Flowers Hall and the Williams-Parker Library. If you need to enter the school, please park on the opposite side of the median as you enter the campus. Thank you for your cooperation.
I wish you all a great weekend and hope to see everyone here next week taking part in all the great activities that are planned.
Blessings,
Mike Notaro Headmaster
