FROM THE HEADMASTER...

The New Headmaster.

A recent newspaper story about Francine Wright's visit to Russia noted that the program through which the visit was arranged was started by President Eisenhower.  That reminded me of the many good things that we have that can be traced back to him.  I remember one of his most effective campaign slogans was "We like Ike!"

Many of you have asked me about our new headmaster, Mike Notaro.  My response is to echo the campaign slogan from years ago, "You'll like Mike!"  I find him to be a pleasure to work with.  He appears to have sound judgment and common sense.  He has a good sense of humor and truly enjoys working with students, faculty and parents.  Brookwood will be in good hands.

An Important Week for Basketball.

This upcoming week is important for both our girls and boys basketball teams.as we play games that will influence our placement in the Region Tournament.  In addition, our home game on Thursday night will be Senior Night.  We have home games on Tuesday and Thursday and conclude the season on Friday at SGA.  Please come out and support our Warrior basketball teams.

A Perspective on Disney's Beauty and the Beast.

Brookwood is undertaking a monumental task in the presentation of Disney's Beauty and the Beast.  Over one-third of our student body is involved and many, many others from the Brookwood community.  Everyone will have a chance to see and applaud  the performances next week, but I want to emphasize how much we owe to all of those who have worked behind the scenes for many months to bring this dream to fruition.  From fundraisers last spring and this fall to publicity to gathering props to building the massive set to handling ticket sales and questions, students, parents and staff have pitched in with many hours of service that has all been given in a cheerful and supportive manner.  In Constance Clineman we have a director who can direct and inspire our students to marvelous performances.  She would be the first to acknowledge that she could not work her miracles without help from others.  Today, I want to thank and applaud all of you who have done so much to bring us to this moment.  Thank you; and to all the performers, "break a leg."

The winners of the "Golden Globe Award" were as follows:  Bronson Rash, Davis Flowers, Mickey Betters, Stephen Stubley, Garrett Vance, Tyler Stone, Colin Alderman, David Daniels and Chris Bragg.  Their skit which showed a typical day in the life of a Brookwood 8th grader was a show-stopper!  Thanks to all who participated.
