FROM THE HEADMASTER...Tis the Season.
Thomasville is a wonderful place during the Christmas season. We have the Troupe show and Victorian Christmas and many other celebratory events and activities related to our churches, families and friends. In the midst of all of this celebration Brookwood has exams. We need to make a concerted effort to help our children keep their focus on academic matters as much as possible for the next two weeks. Until the 16th of December Tis the Season for Reason at Brookwood.
**BUDDY CHRISTMAS ASSEMBLY
This week we held our annual Buddy Christmas Assembly, when each first grader received a specially decorated Christmas tree from his or her senior buddy. Each tree featured decorations that reflected the child's unique interests.
At the beginning of the year, seniors drew the name of a first grade student to mentor and to have as a little buddy. The pairs have met several times during the fall. The little buddies helped the seniors paint their parking blocks in the parking lot. They then met for Halloween, when the elaborately costumed seniors entered Chubb Hall with a spirited interpretation of "The Monster Mash ."
Through the fall, the buddies have learned about what their little buddies really like: what they enjoy doing, their pets, favorite college team, after-school activities, colors, and special requests to Santa. The seniors worked these things into the tree and explained them as they introduced their buddies to parents and other students. The Buddy program continues throughout the year.
