***BUDDIES

The first grade and senior buddies are getting to know each other through notes and visits.  Sometimes the older friends visit the playground when the children are having their second recess.  Sometimes they go to the cafeteria.  Today the first graders were outside enjoying their picnic from the magazine sales when the older students surprised them by spending time chatting on the grass or at the tables.  They really seem to enjoy each other.  The older ones wait to hear "You've got mail!" so they can read a note from their child, usually with a picture drawn especially for their buddy.  The younger ones hope to find a note in their cubby, sometimes with a small treat.  Brookwood is very fortunate to have this wholesome, worthwhile tradition.

***MAGAZINE MONEY MADNESS = FOOD AND FUN!

All Lower School students enjoyed a picnic today in the quadrangle to celebrate their success during the recent magazine sale.  Brookwood Chef, Mr. Otis Bass, grilled hotdogs and hamburgers to the sounds of lively music as the students enjoyed their lunch on colorful picnic tables.  An ice cream sundae bar was the perfect topping to this special lunch.

***ONE ACT PLAY AUDITIONS

The One Act Play this year will be Scrooge, The Musical.  Students in grades 8-12 are encouraged to audition.  One Act Play auditions have been set for Friday, September 30th from 4:00 until 7:00 with Mrs. Clineman in the Music Room.  Please visit the school's website to download an audition form.

***BEAUTY AND THE BEAST AUDITIONS

Auditions will be held on Saturday, October 8, for Brookwood School's production of Beauty and the Beast.  Audition forms are available on the Brookwood web site.  Please download a copy and return a completed audition form to the front office by October 3rd for each actor.  Younger actors will be broken down into groups of ten and assigned approximate audition times on Saturday, October 8th.  Actors from the same family will be grouped together, where possible.  Grade levels may be mixed to help the audition process.  Upper School actors will be assigned times on Sunday, October 9th.  Actors from the Middle School may be placed on either day to balance the schedule.  Again, audition forms are available on the Brookwood web site or in the front office.

***SAFETY AT FOOTBALL GAMES

Parents, please remember that you are responsible for your children at our football stadium.  Children should not be playing around the baseball field or stands.  Please pay attention to what your children are doing.

***PERMISSION FOR PICTURES

Now that we have our new website up and running and we are getting ready for Homecoming, we want to include many pictures of events at Brookwood.  If you do not want your child's picture posted on our site, either as part of a group or as an individual engaged in some activity, please let Karla George know.
