FROM THE HEADMASTER

Brookwood School's Response to Katrina:  The students at Brookwood have decided that they want to help the hurricane victims by having various classes adopt a trailer that will be used as housing for the victims.  FEMA has ordered 1000 mobile homes from Stewart Park Homes in Thomasville.  These homes will be shipped to the hurricane affected areas and set up for the families who lost their homes.

The goal of Brookwood's Adopt-a-Trailer project is to stock each unit with basic household goods.  In total our students will stock 9 units with new goods and provide personal messages from our students as well.  The 7th grade computer class has already done coloring books for the units.

Various classes will go about this task in different ways-some will collect money and others will collect the items needed.  All Brookwood students will take part in this project.

Our target is to complete our efforts by Monday, September 26th.  Please know that this effort does not represent our only effort to respond to the devastation of Katrina.  Brookwood has enrolled 4 students who were displaced by the hurricane.  One of our faculty members is housing a family.  Many faculty and students are working and contributing to numerous efforts to help through other organizations.

Our thanks to everyone who contributed ideas for ways Brookwood could help.  Once again you are showing that we are a caring community.
