Helping the Victims of Hurricane Katrina.
Even with all that we have seen and heard and read in the media it is difficult to comprehend the magnitude of the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. If possible, it is even more difficult to contemplate the scope of the consequences the storm on the lives and on society. It is truly heartbreaking.
At Brookwood we share the common impulse to render assistance. We shall do something and we want what we do to be significant and representative of the generosity and good will of our community. Instead of responding to every opportunity that arises, I have asked the students to consider what they think we should do as a school community. With their energy they can generate substantial support. We do not lack opportunities for ways to help. We are in the process of deciding how we can be most effective.
One idea that has come to mind is to dedicate the entire net proceeds of the Fall Family Festival to the relief efforts. That would be an activity that would involve most members of our community. The lack of those resources would cause us some slight hardship that would rank as a nanosecond in the scale of time as compared to what the victims face.
Please give thought to what you think would be our best approach and let your children bring forth their ideas. We have the capacity to make a difference. Let us do it wisely.
***DRAMA GUILD COFFEE HOUSE

Students and parents are invited to spend the evening sipping coffee, munching dessert, and listening to poetry and music presented by Brookwood students. Please join us from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Donations will be appreciated. All proceeds will go to Beauty and the Beast.
