The Goizueta Foundation Adds to Goizueta Foundation Scholars Fund at Brookwood School

We are proud to announce that The Goizueta Foundation has awarded us $300,000 to add to The Goizueta Foundation Scholars Fund at the School.  When added to the existing Goizueta Foundation Scholars Fund, the new grant will bring our endowment for this purpose to a total of $500,000.  The income from the endowment will be used for financial aid for Latino students who demonstrate need through our need-based aid program.

This is wonderful news for our entire community.  We are incorporating Spanish into our entire academic program from PK to 12, and we will use this academic focus and financial aid as the basis for reaching out into the growing Latino community.  We can begin awarding additional aid in the 2006-07 school year.

Members of our Board of Directors worked diligently to help us get on The Goizueta Foundation's agenda, and we are very pleased with The Foundation's recognition of our focus on quality education and their clear interest in helping us further our program.  We shall have to continue to work hard to merit this strong investment in Brookwood.

GENERAL NOTE ABOUT POTENTIAL TROPICAL STORMS OR HURRICANES

Broookwood's general policy is coordinate closings for hurricanes with the local Thomas County School System for at least the first day of such a closing.

***GETTING YOUR DRIVER'S LICENSE?
Students eligible for their driver's license must take the ADAP (Alcohol and Drug Awareness Program) class before being issued a license.  This class will be offered on Sept. 6th and 7th at Southwest Georgia Technical College.  The classes are from 6:00-8:00 p.m.  There is no cost for the class and students register the night of the 6th.  Classes are held in the Library Conference Room.

Reminder - SAT, Oct 8 - Register by Sept 7 ACT, Sept 24 - Late register Aug 20 - Sept 2 Both of these will be given at Brookwood.
