The Junior Kindergarten Experience
Sometimes you’ll never know the value of a moment, until it becomes a memory. - Dr. Suess
Why a Junior Kindergarten? We’re often asked that question by parents who are interested in having their little ones attend our school. At Brookwood, it’s the mission of our teachers to educate the whole child. We believe this is especially important at the Junior Kindergarten age, where growth in one area depends on and influences growth in others.
We call it “JK” rather than “Pre-K” because a more rigorous program is implemented. The program is only rigorous in the sense that it is thorough and conscientiously-wrought. All the children ever know is that they are having fun!
JK students are exposed to academics and enrichment through play in order for them to build language skills, gain self-confidence, develop fine and gross motor skills, build positive leadership skills, communicate with peers, and strengthen their problem solving skills.
In addition to academic skills, our students also benefit from their exposure to six different enrichment areas. Art, music, Spanish, technology, library, and physical education are integrated seamlessly into the curriculum and are offered weekly.
